Well, if you liked Rabbit, Run, he did sequels -- Rabbit Redux, Rabbit is Rich and Rabbit at Rest. Mind you, Updike is a bit of a misogynist, but his prose has a wonderful flow to it. Still, I wouldn't overlook Twain, Hemingway, Faulkner, Steinbeck, Bellow, Roth, Morrison, Taylor, Atwood and a few other quality American writers. Updike's Rabbit Run is still a hit for me.
